Holden bronze bust to recognize founder of osteopathic medicine |

| Northwest Oklahoma Osteopathic Foundation members
will have something to create a stir next month during a national convention
in New Orleans — the
unveiling of a bronze bust of Dr. Andrew Taylor Still sculpted by local
artist H.T. Holden. Still, who died in 1917, is the founder of osteopathic medicine. Osteopathic foundation members here commissioned Holden to sculpt a bust of Still earlier this year. It will be unveiled during an Oct. 13 luncheon at the American Osteopathic Association’s annual convention in New Orleans. The project was a challenge for Holden, a Kremlin resident who is nationally recognized as a painter and sculptor of the American West. “ He (H.T.) really hasn’t done commissioned pieces to resemble someone who has passed on. This was more of a challenge,” said Holden’s wife, Edna Mae. Holden used pictures included in history books and any other photographs available to get his three-fourths life-size bust of Still. “ He picked out features that he was comfortable with,” Edna Mae Holden said about her husband’s preparation.
